Strengthening Resilience to Radicalization and Disinformation in Central Asia

"Strengthening Resilience to Radicalization and Disinformation in Central Asia" funded by the European Union and implemented by Internews.

Purpose: To explore the meanings/meanings, ideas and attitudes, messages and content created and disseminated by banned extremist groups offline and online among local communities in the Central Asian region.


Target group: Vulnerable groups to violent extremism.


The geographic scope of the project includes Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.


Research Objectives:

- To analyze the narratives disseminated through social media, informal personal networks, and online media;

- Determine how these narratives influence the notions and values of different community members, especially young women and men;

- To explore (who, how, when, where, and at whom) the radical narratives are directed;

- Suggest appropriate communication strategies for responding to radical messages in traditional media, social media, as well as offline initiatives in Central Asian communities.
